PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Santa Barbara segment will start between Olive Mill and Hermosillo Roads in late summer 2024. Crews will begin by strengthening the shoulders and median areas to prepare for upcoming lane shifts. In the fall, crews will work on new northbound lanes and ramps.

Measure A and Senate Bill 1 are funding the southern portion of the Santa Barbara segment. The southern section includes new carpool lanes, updated safety barriers and freeway lanes, sound walls, and on- and off-ramps. The project team is applying for funds for the North segment that includes the redesign of the Cabrillo Boulevard Intersection with new bridges, lanes, on- and off-ramps, and local street improvements.
