The San Ysidro Roundabout will improve traffic flow at the intersection at San Ysidro Road, North Jameson Lane, and the northbound Highway 101 on- and off-ramps at San Ysidro Road. This single-lane roundabout will have an oval-shaped median planted with native and drought-tolerant landscaping. There will be crosswalks around the roundabout with median islands to enable pedestrians to cross one direction of traffic at a time. Bicyclists can either take the lane through the roundabout or dismount and use crosswalks.
Construction is scheduled from March 2023 through the end of 2023. This project is being delivered early to help local traffic ciruclation due to regional funding and Measure A.

Drivers will have access through the intersection during construction with the exception of June and July when the overcrossing over Highway 101 will be closed to enable roundabout, bridge rail, and on- and off-ramp construction simultaneously. Please see maps for detailed information and expect day and night work.
Ramp Closures: To enable construction space and reduce traffic in the work area, the northbound on- and off-ramps at San Ysidro Road will have the following closures. Drivers can use detours at Sheffield Drive and Olive Mill Road. Visit www.SBROADS.com to view maps.
Northbound on-ramp: March 2023 - early 2025
Northbound off-ramp: June 2023 - early 2025
**Please note that the on- and off-ramps at San Ysidro Road will be closed for roundabout construction and remain closed for Highway 101: Montecito freeway construction.
Stage Construction:
In March, crews will begin by working at the corner of San Ysidro Road and N Jameson Lane as well as on a retaining wall by the northbound on-ramp. Pedestrians will be able to use the detour on San Leandro Lane and La Vereda Road.
**Please note that pre-construction work will occur beginning March 6 off of N Jameson Lane between La Vereda and San Ysidro Roads.
In summer 2023, the Highway 101 overcrossing will be closed to enable roundabout, ramp, and bridge rail construction. Pedestrians will continue to have access.
This fall, work will occur along the northeast corner. The overcrossing will reopen.
Near the end of 2023, crews will finish up by paving median islands. Please expect night work.
